Exploring the future(s) of SF4S at ISPIM in Bergen

Hot Topic discussions on Sustainable Innovation Cultures

In two rounds of Hot Topic Discussions by the Special Interest Group on Values-Based and Sustainable Innovation, Henning presented the SF4S project, and discussed Sustainability Foresight methods and cases with the participants. We had about 12 participants in each round from different, mainly European countries with backgrounds in industry and academia. In particular, methods of envisioning, backcasting and roadmapping and the example of envisioning new sustainable mobility business at Michelin were highly appreciated. Participants contributed their own experiences e.g. in combining foresight approaches with sustainability reporting in the chemical industry, or with innovation impact assessment in finance.

Workshop on AI empowered Social Innovation

Kyriaki and Henning from the SF4S project partnered together with their Special Interest Groups of Social Innovation and of Values-based and Sustainable Innovation facilitated a one hour workshop on “Social Innovation and AI: Harnessing Technologies for Good”. Following an introduction of challenges emerging from widespread adoption for AI, we refined initial ideas for a COST project application that builds on insights and results from SF4S. Discussion topics included the mainstreaming of futures literacy with help of AI, and enhancing lifelong learning and empowering workers though VET (e.g. in Portugal).
