The SF4S 1st online conference, "SF4S - Strategic Foresight for Sustainability: Supporting our transition to a more sustainable European economy," was an enlightening and thought-provoking event that delved into the intersection of foresight and sustainability through collaborative co-development projects.
One of the highlights of the conference was the presentation of findings from the interview round conducted between October 2022 and January 2023. During this phase, over 130 experts from various sectors, including industry, policy, and education, were engaged in discussions to gain valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities related to sustainability and foresight. This round of interviews facilitated a comprehensive understanding of the landscape.
Additionally, the conference featured discussion groups aimed at sharing further insights and outlining the future steps of the SF4S project. These interactive sessions provided a platform for in-depth conversations on the project's direction and goals.
The conference introduced two University-Industry co-development projects scheduled to commence in April 2023. These projects promise to employ cutting-edge methodologies and approaches to address the intricate challenges associated with sustainability and foresight. Sustainability, being a multifaceted challenge, demands innovative and interdisciplinary solutions. The co-development projects have been meticulously structured to tackle these challenges by leveraging the combined expertise of both industry and academia. This collaborative approach ensures that solutions are not only theoretical but also grounded in real-world requirements, guided by practical considerations.
With 165 registrations, the SF4S 1st online conference succeeded in bringing together a diverse and engaged community of individuals passionate about driving sustainability and foresight in Europe. This event set the stage for a collaborative journey towards a more sustainable future, demonstrating that by working together, we can find practical solutions to the complex challenges of our time.
